Responsibilities

Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks such as balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of supporting schedules
Support monthly reviews of profit and loss expense trends, identifying and escalating any anomalies or potential issues
Handle daily and monthly bank account reconciliations to ensure transaction accuracy
Assist with annual external audits by preparing requested documentation for audit, review, and tax purposes
Provide backup assistance for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions as needed
Maintain and update vendor account information
Administer positive pay systems for weekly check runs to reduce payment fraud
Review employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness, including monitoring vacation and leave requests; follow up with relevant staff for approvals
Process payroll on a semi-monthly basis, issuing manual payroll checks when necessary
Prepare and enter all payroll-related journal entries and process associated payroll fees
Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts to ensure consistency and accuracy
Audit benefit provider invoices, validating accuracy and resolving discrepancies directly with providers
Verify state compliance for new hires, ensuring all data entered into the HRIS matches offer letter details
Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records within payroll systems and physical files
Calculate and distribute monthly commission reports to eligible staff

Required

At least 3 years of relevant accounting/payroll experience
Strong Intermediate Excel skills
High level of attention to detail
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent combination of coursework and experience
