True Axis Recruiting is partnering with a profitable, founder-led manufacturing and technology business on Long Island to hire a Vice President of Strategy & Operations. This role is focused on modernizing operating systems, strengthening execution, and aligning teams across the organization, with a clear path to President in 18-24 months.

Responsibilities

Translate long-term vision into clear, executable plans
Partner with the President on strategic planning and prioritization
Lead cross-functional decision-making, trade-offs, and execution
Oversee (directly or indirectly) Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and Administration
Modernize operating systems (ERP, reporting, workflows, accountability)
Drive operational excellence, predictability, and on-time delivery
Establish and run a company-wide operating rhythm (weekly/monthly/quarterly)
Hold leaders accountable to outcomes and coach for performance
Address performance gaps directly and constructively
Shadow the President intentionally, absorb institutional knowledge, and prepare to assume full executive authority
Progressively take over day-to-day business leadership with minimal President involvement
Own and run the operating rhythm across the company
Stabilize and modernize systems (ERP/workflows/reporting/accountability)
Align Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing on priorities
Reduce operational friction and bottlenecks measurably
Earn trust across technical, production, and leadership teams
Ready to step into the President role
Business runs day-to-day with minimal President involvement
Execution is predictable: strong operating cadence, margin discipline, on-time delivery, leadership bench strength

Required

Senior leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial, or hardware-centric environments
Experience scaling a $20M–$100M revenue business (or comparable complexity)
Strong background across strategy + operations (not just one lane)
Proven ability to build/fix operating systems and lead cross-functional teams
Comfortable working alongside founders and navigating succession dynamics
Strategic clarity and strong judgment
Operational rigor and process discipline
Calm authority, high EQ, and ability to earn trust
Ownership mindset and decisive execution

Preferred

ERP experience (SAP a plus)
engineering-adjacent experience strongly preferred
