Director, Product – Automotive Commerce

Hearst Newspapers is looking for an experienced product leader to drive their Auto Commerce strategy across various segments. The role involves owning the product roadmap and delivering solutions that address customer needs while supporting company growth.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the product vision for Automotive Commerce
Analyze market dynamics and competitive landscape to identify opportunities
Work closely with senior leadership to align the product roadmap with broader company goals and growth targets
Manage the complete product lifecycle, from initial concept through launch, adoption, and continuous improvement
Partner with Engineering and Data teams to turn customer requirements into high-quality  solutions for the automotive industry
Set clear metrics for success, track performance closely, and adjust based on learnings
Help shape pricing, packaging, and licensing approaches that deliver customer value while driving incremental revenue
Collaborate with Finance and senior product leaders to monitor product economics and profitability
Make informed decisions about where to invest resources across the portfolio
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success on product positioning, launch plans, and sales enablement
Create demos, training content, and supporting materials that help drive adoption and customer satisfaction
Stay closely connected to Marketing to understand how products are performing in-market and feed those insights back into planning
Build strong partnerships with Engineering, Data Science, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams to ensure coordinated execution
Act as the subject matter expert on Auto Commerce products, internally, with customers, and throughout the automotive industry
Balance advocacy for customer needs with practical business considerations

Required

8–10 years in product management, ideally in automotive data or technology
Solid knowledge of the automotive industry; how insurance, retail, wholesale, and remarketing segments operate and what drives them
Track record of managing product roadmaps and launching products that delivered tangible business results
Strong ability to lead across functions and work effectively with both technical and commercial teams
Strategic and analytical thinking paired with excellent communication skills
Experience leading or mentoring others is a plus
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
