7+ years expDTXT, LLC is seeking a Controller who will be a hands-on finance leader responsible for the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis. This role involves partnering closely with the Founders and fractional CFO to ensure accurate financial insights and support strategic planning.

Responsibilities
Own and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and accounting policies
Produce accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reports
Oversee revenue recognition for ecommerce transactions
Manage inventory accounting, COGS, reserves, and adjustments
Ensure accurate accounting for refunds, chargebacks, discounts, and promotions
Build and maintain forecasts tied to revenue, margin, and operating expenses
Develop and manage budgets in partnership with the Founder and fractional CFO
Analyze variances and clearly explain drivers of performance
Create financial models to support labor forecast, inventory, and growth decisions
Own cash flow forecasting and working capital analysis
Build and maintain labor forecasts across warehouses and corporate teams
Partner with operations, HR, and leadership on headcount planning and hiring timing
Forecast wages, overtime, bonuses, payroll taxes, and benefits
Analyze labor efficiency and productivity against demand
Identify labor cost risks and recommend staffing or scheduling adjustments
Work directly with the Founders and CFO on financial reporting and planning
Support the fractional CFO with timely, accurate financial data and analysis
Prepare materials for leadership reviews, board updates, and lender reporting as needed
Flag risks early and provide options supported by data
Partner with operations and supply chain on inventory planning and controls
Monitor unit economics, fulfillment costs, and gross margin drivers
Support analysis across multiple sales channels and payment platforms
Track key ecommerce metrics that impact profitability and cash
Maintain appropriate internal controls for a founder-led environment
Manage audits, tax filings, and external advisors
Oversee multi-state sales tax compliance and reporting
Ensure accounting practices are documented and consistently applied
Own accounting, payroll, and reporting systems
Improve close timelines, forecast accuracy, and data reliability
Support integrations across ecommerce, inventory, payroll, and payments
Build scalable processes without unnecessary overhead
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong hands-on ownership of close and reporting
Experience with forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis
Direct experience with labor and headcount forecasting
Ecommerce, retail, or consumer products experience
Strong understanding of inventory accounting and COGS
Comfortable working with founders and fractional finance leadership
Preferred
Experience in founder-led or high-growth environments
Experience partnering with fractional or outsourced CFOs
Multi-state sales tax experience
Familiarity with ERP, payroll, and ecommerce platforms
