Personal & Succession Planning – Staff Attorney

Responsibilities

Preparing initial probate papers
Valuing assets through research and approved tools
Preparing probate inventories, accountings, and other court-required filings
Tracking and communicating filing and other deadlines for firm-wide docketing
Liaising with courts and government agencies to process filings, record deeds and conveyances, and, when necessary, personally filing estate documents
Drafting deeds and other transfer documents to fund revocable trusts
Coordinating and arranging beneficiary distributions
Researching state and county records to obtain information on business entities and heirs
Meeting with Probate Court Magistrates as needed
Gathering and organizing gift, asset, and debt information from executors and trustees
Preparing first drafts of estate and gift tax returns
Collaborating with external professionals such as accountants, financial advisors, and family offices
Reviewing brokerage statements, arranging beneficiary distributions, and preparing reports to beneficiaries

Required

Experience as a Staff Attorney in Personal & Succession Planning
Support for estate administration, estate and gift tax, and trust administration matters
Ability to prepare initial probate papers
Valuing assets through research and approved tools
Preparing probate inventories, accountings, and other court-required filings
Tracking and communicating filing and other deadlines for firm-wide docketing
Liaising with courts and government agencies to process filings
Recording deeds and conveyances
Personally filing estate documents when necessary
