Master Craftsman-Plumbing

Wake County Public School System is seeking a Master Craftsman-Plumbing to perform lead work associated with the installation, inspection, and maintenance of plumbing systems. The role involves responding to work orders, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Performs experienced or master craftsman level work associated with plumbing systems, materials, equipment, and fixtures
Responds to assigned work orders relating to electrical systems; troubleshoots appropriate corrective measures and performs work to provide a solution
Replaces faulty or defective plumbing equipment and systems
Prepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed
Adheres to laws, regulations and requirements set forth in the Wake County Public School System’s (WCPSS) safety procedures/policies
Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintaining a safe work environment
Performs other related duties, as assigned

Required

Considerable knowledge of plumbing systems, equipment, and fixtures
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; Google Apps
Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction
Ability to perform arithmetic calculations
Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on plumbing systems
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies
High school diploma or equivalent
Five years of experience directly related to plumbing systems installation and repair
Within twelve months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements

Preferred

Associates degree or technical school training in plumbing systems
Hold a valid Class 1 Plumbing License determined by the North Carolina Board of Plumbing Examiners
