Marine Corps Recruiting is seeking lawyers interested in becoming Judge Advocates in the United States Marine Corps. As a Marine Judge Advocate, you will gain guaranteed trial experience handling felony level cases and have the opportunity to practice in diverse areas of law, while serving as an officer in the Marine Corps.
Responsibilities
Handle felony level cases
Serve as a prosecutor or defense counsel in military courts-martial
Argue appellate cases before the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals
Practice law in areas such as operational law, family law, environmental law, labor law and international law
Write ethics opinions
Research issues pertaining to Environmental, Fiscal, Government Contracting, Labor and Employment, Claims and Tort Litigation Law and other legal matters
Work closely with Marines and Marine families on Family, Consumer, Tax, Estate and Immigration Law issues
Serve aboard a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)
Deploy with a Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF)
Handle Rules of Engagement, Laws of War, Detention Operations, Investigations, Fiscal Law, Government Contracting, Foreign Claims, Military Justice, Host Nation Justice Systems, Legal Assistance and other legal issues that arise in a deployed environment
Qualification
Required
US citizenship
JD from an accredited Law School or currently enrolled in Law School
150 on the LSAT (waivers available) or Bar certified
