FIELD ARCHITECT – NYC SCA SCHOOL PROJECT

Design Resources Group Architects (DRG Architects, AIA) is seeking a knowledgeable, detail‑oriented Field Architect to join our team for an active New York City School Construction Authority (NYC SCA) school project. The role involves serving as the on-site architectural representative, performing field observations, and ensuring compliance with SCA standards throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities

Serve as the on‑site architectural representative for DRG Architects throughout construction
Perform daily field observations, document conditions, and verify work against contract documents
Coordinates contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and change order requests with the project team
Provides meeting minutes from project meetings
Coordinate with the NYC SCA, general contractors, engineers, and consultants to resolve field issues
Prepare detailed field reports, including photos, progress summaries, and non‑conformance observations
Monitor construction progress, quality control, and schedule adherence
Ensure construction is compliance with SCA standards, specifications, safety regulations, and building codes and construction documents
Attend construction meetings and provide architectural input on site‑related challenges

Required

A degree in Architecture or related Construction Field
7+ years of architectural or construction administration experience; SCA experience strongly preferred
Strong understanding of construction detailing, sequencing, and technical coordination
Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office; familiarity with SCA systems is a plus
Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced field environment
Must be available for full-time on-site presence in Staten Island, NY

Preferred

Prior work on K–12 educational facilities, public school projects, or public works
Experience with NYC code, ADA, sustainability requirements, and quality assurance practices
Knowledge of SCA Design Requirements, General Conditions, and reporting procedures
