Responsibilities

Leads and coordinates environmental planning, permitting and compliance activities for company operations
Works directly with entry-level scientists to guide and direct work
Informs and advises Senior Scientists and department management on project status, direction and environmental risk
Directs an appraises the work of environmental consultants and contractors
Works on many projects concurrently and at all levels within project organization
Assists in the review of legislation, legal, and regulatory issues
Consults with other departments and organizations on environmental issues and constraints
Interacts with regulatory agency personnel on a regular basis
Participates in due diligence assessments for multiple types of transactions associated with real property and operational assets
Stays abreast of emerging environmental issues and their potential impact on company operations
Scopes and determines needed work product for specific issues
Interprets laboratory/field analytical results and compares to regulatory requirements
Participates in environmental audit programs
Coordinates and responds to spills and wildlife emergencies

Required

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with five to six years of environmental-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline
Must possess a current, legally valid drivers license and meet the company's driving record requirements
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to perform unit conversions
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and statistics
Working knowledge of database, spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software
Understanding of GIS software
Ability to solve multi-faceted problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Ability to collect and analyze multiple data sources
