Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, and supervises shift production in accordance with priority goals and availability of resources of the Pre-work, Inspection & Repair departments. Performs in-process quality audits to ensure the accuracy of the car estimate. Ensures the proper technique is being followed per standard work instructions. Ensures adequate and quality workmanship is achieved at both the inbound and outbound inspection stages, as well as the mock-up/final assembly of all Rubber Line components, including inspection of work performed by the on-site rubber applicator & repair contract shop
Perform inbound and outbound inspections on all rubber line cars, equipment, and material. The Inspector/Estimator must maintain FRA and AAR certifications to perform routine and non-periodic inspections. Prepares accurate and detailed estimates of all repairs necessary to meet customer, regulatory, and company expectations in the repair of rubber railcars by utilizing established policies and procedures. Determines all RRD and customer liability on all Rubber Line cars
Directs activities of NDE and pre work personnel. In the absence of a supervisor, the Sr. Inspector will serve as the back-up supervisor within the facility, with the following departments: pre-work, finishing, repair, valve room, valve/coil, and rubberline applicator contractor shop
Completes and reviews all required documentation to ensure accurate billing and communication of completed repairs

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
Must have 5 years' railcar rubberline experience
WIS/VT certified
Basic computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Detail-oriented
Ability to work well with others in a positive manner
Ability to be flexible and to strive in a fast pace environment
Communication, both verbal and written
Technical/Professional Knowledge
Ability to read and interpret documents such as IO instructions, FM instructions, work orders, AAR Field Manual
Must be able to work in extreme temperature environments
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights
Must be able to walk for extended periods of time
Must be able to sit/work in front of a computer for extended periods of time
Minimal travel may be required within the US and Canada
