Hush is a Detroit-based digital privacy and personal security company focused on protecting individuals and organizations from various digital risks. They are offering a Research Fellowship to design and operate the Hush Digital Risk Index, which will analyze how digital exposure and emerging threats impact individuals and families in the United States.

Responsibilities
Design the conceptual and analytical framework for the Hush Digital Risk Index
Define metrics, methodologies, and thresholds for digital exposure, impersonation, fraud, and threat escalation
Integrate and analyze data from: Public and government sources (FBI, FTC, DOJ, DHS, etc.), Industry and academic datasets, Hush’s proprietary, anonymized exposure and risk data
Identify trends, anomalies, and emerging risks
Ensure rigor, reproducibility, and ethical handling of sensitive data
Produce: Monthly “Signal Briefs”, Quarterly flagship Index Reports
Translate technical findings into clear, externally publishable insights
Collaborate with communications and leadership to support media briefings and public interpretation
Qualification
Required
Current or recent PhD candidates
Post-doctoral researchers
Exceptional Master's-level candidates with strong quantitative or analytical backgrounds
Comfortable working with large, imperfect, real-world datasets
Strong statistical, analytical, and methodological skills
Can translate complex findings into clear narratives
Care deeply about ethics, privacy, and responsible data use
Enjoy building something new from scratch and owning it end-to-end
Aligned with Hush's core principles and want your work to have real-world impact
