EMPLOYMENT PROCESSING REPRESENTATIVE

NYC Department of Social Services is committed to fighting poverty and addressing homelessness in New York City. They are seeking an Employment Processing Representative to advise candidates on documentation, verify work experience, and assist with employment processing tasks.

Responsibilities

Advise prospective candidates the appropriate documentation required to satisfy pre-appointment interview criteria
Refer candidate to appropriate agencies (i.e., Board of Education, Vital Records) to secure- missing documentation
Verify work experience and education documents submitted by candidates for authenticity
Review processing documents returned to OSR and make recommendations to the supervisor for further review and clarification
Evaluate candidates' acceptability for employment by conducting in-depth interviews, assessing candidates: suitability based on overall presentation, qualifications, performance, and Initiate Investigations to ensure the candidate satisfy job requirements
Authorize employment by determining candidates. qualifications for hiring based on agency guidelines established by the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS)
Assist the candidates with their E-Hire application, SCR State Clearance Registration application and when necessary, paper forms
Obtain collateral information on candidate by conferring with other city agencies and Initiating contact with both public and private sector employers
Input data into the New York City Automated Personnel System {NYCAPS) for each personnel action complete, update, and review existing information and generate system reports

Required

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty
An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in '1' above
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in '1' above
Education and/or experience equivalent to '1', '2', or '3' above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in '1' above
Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in '1' above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years
