Senior Director, Clinical Science – Oncology

Responsibilities
Partner with clinical leadership to design and refine clinical development strategies, including authoring development concepts and long-range clinical plans for molecules across early and late phases
Provide senior scientific leadership across assigned programs, ensuring strategic coherence across protocols, study objectives, biomarker planning, and competitive positioning
Represent Clinical Science at governance, program-level forums, and cross-functional leadership discussions
Serve as primary author or lead reviewer for protocol synopses, full protocols, amendments, ICFs, investigator brochures, safety narratives, CSRs, clinical sections of regulatory submissions (NDA/MAA), and associated scientific documents
Oversee scientific consistency and document quality across program deliverables, ensuring alignment with clinical strategy
Provide senior Clinical Science leadership to study teams, ensuring scientific rigor and excellence in study planning, execution, and data interpretation
Support or provide medical monitoring oversight for Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials, including assessment of safety data, dose modification decisions, and risk/benefit evaluation
Lead data review meetings, safety reviews, and interpret complex clinical, pharmacodynamic, and biomarker datasets to inform clinical decision-making
Partner closely with Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Biometrics, Translational Science, Drug Safety, and other functions to ensure seamless study execution and alignment with program objectives
Lead or contribute to protocol trainings for CROs, investigators, and internal teams; act as a senior scientific resource
Organize and participate in opinion leader advisory boards and build strong external networks with investigators, KOLs, and scientific experts
Prepare and review scientific content for Health Authority interactions; contribute to responses to inquiries, inspection findings, and internal audits
Support preparation of briefing documents, safety summaries, and regulatory-facing scientific materials
Lead or oversee development of scientific presentations, conference abstracts, manuscripts, and internal/external slide decks, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with program strategy
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with substantial clinical oncology experience
Minimum 4+ years of clinical development experience in oncology within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
Demonstrated experience leading clinical science activities across multiple phases, including protocol design, safety review, medical monitoring, and authorship of core clinical documents
Proven track record authoring key regulatory‑facing documents (IBs, CSRs, summaries, submission content)
Deep understanding of early oncology development, biomarkers, dose selection, and scientific tradeoffs
Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and collaborate across cross‑functional teams and executive‑level stakeholders
Preferred
Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, NP, or MS in oncology or related discipline)
Experience supporting global Health Authority interactions
Familiarity with small‑molecule oncology programs
Ability to synthesize complex data and translate scientific insight into strategic recommendations
