Responsibilities
Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and definitive cost estimates for new and ongoing projects
Perform conceptual engineering design and develop preliminary construction plans to support quantity take-offs and scope definition
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to review specifications, drawings, and documentation for accurate estimate development
Conduct value engineering analyses to identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality or performance
Develop and maintain estimating tools, databases, and methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency
Perform risk assessments and establish appropriate contingency allowances
Present estimates, value engineering recommendations, and cost analyses to senior management and stakeholders
Solicit and evaluate competitive pricing from contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers
Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, updating estimates to reflect scope changes, design modifications, or market conditions
Ensure all estimating activities comply with industry standards, best practices, and applicable regulations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
Minimum 2 years of project estimating experience, with emphasis on conceptual engineering and preliminary design
Proven experience in utility-scale energy projects
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and industry cost trends
Proficiency in value engineering principles
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; strong analytical and quantitative abilities
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred
Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
3+ years of project estimating experience focused on conceptual and preliminary design
1+ years of field engineering or construction management experience
Experience with cost estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, WinEst, CostX, or similar)
Familiarity with project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6
