Personnel Assistant
The N.C. Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies responsible for safeguarding lives and property. Responsibilities
Ensuring current personnel policies and procedures are distributed and posted at all times
Keys employee actions into BEACON and follows through to completion of each action
Uses the BEACON system to administer all areas of time and leave management, timekeeper, work schedule rules, supervisor changes, reports, etc
Corrects time entries on an as needed basis
Troubleshoots leave or pay problems which pertain to negative leave balances or payroll discrepancies
Oversees the accrual and usage of compensatory time to include holiday comp, gap hours, and overtime comp
Manages the adverse weather leave liabilities
Provides information to employees on policies surrounding time and leave management
Maintaining TAPs, entering timesheets, worker's comp, completion of OSHA Reports, leave of absence, shared leave and administering family medical leave
Handling inquiries both orally and written form
Completion of personnel forms, prepare documents and personnel packages with attention to detail and confidentiality
Assist in the hiring process which include but is not limited to preparing posting request, scheduling interviews, requesting preapprovals, preparing hiring packages and assisting with new employee orientation
Completing homeland security verification and serve as a DCI Operator
Maintaining records of employee medical and personnel files
Serving as the primary Health Benefit Representative, answers requests for employment verifications, processes separations, reinstatements and dockings
Switching tasks in mid-stream and working with many interruptions in a high volume personnel setting with the ability to assist staff at all times
Providing information to employees on all benefits related to employment
Working with employees in preparation of retirement
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Documented knowledge of clerical/secretarial skills
Documented knowledge in the use of office machines
Documented knowledge in computer skills using Microsoft Word
