Responsibilities

Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity
Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities
Deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team
Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity
Conducts engineering and related studies
Completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; increasingly competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems
Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures, proficient in technical and analytical competencies
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
Maintains accurate records and files, and
Supports the company’s goals and represents the company positively and professionally
Support substation optimization, Grid Plan, and MYRP processes by:
Completing scoping assignments for planning responsible packages by communicated deadlines
Collaborating with development team through participation in project kickoff meetings, scope overlap discussions, and other means
Respond to execution stakeholder requests (PM, asset design) when scopes may need to be modified
Participation in Grid Plan 3 development workshops
Support IVVC project by:
Completion of scoping assignments by communicated deadlines, either on own or by collaborating with contract partners
Engage in enablement efforts, including review of station regulator settings and capacitors with alarms or abnormal operations
Support ADP tools by:
Attending all scheduled training and onboarding sessions
Leveraging existing tools (Adapt, Morecast, FLPR, GHC, PEA) to aid in planning process and decisions
Aid in development of new tools (IGP) and be open to innovative solutions (customer programs, load shifting) to capacity constraints
Participate in actions related to audit findings. Provide feedback to durable SMEs to facilitate continuous improvement efforts
Support completion of NWA analysis on all infrastructure projects meeting eligible criteria
Identify capacity project needs that do not align with SO and communicate and provide documentation per jurisdictional or zone level process
Provide timely responses to load addition and available capacity request inquiries. Where possible, leverage existing workstreams (SO, SYSCAP) or bundle solutions to maximize efficiency
Support annual planning and budget cycle by maintaining project documentation (business cases, scopes, estimates, etc.) and respond to inquiries related to project timing and need to aid in quarterly reporting and/or data requests

Required

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer. A Master's degree in engineering can be considered in lieu of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree
Minimum 2 years of engineering experience for Engineer II
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer. A Master's degree in engineering can be considered in lieu of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree
Minimum 4 years of engineering experience for Engineer III

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles
Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Good written and oral communication skills
Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam
Understanding of basic principles of project management
Experience in the utility industry
Department specific experience applicable to the hiring department
