Responsibilities

Serve as a subject matter expert for athenahealth clinical modules and Meditech Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Configure, maintain, and optimize templates, order sets, lab build dictionaries, test codes, and workflow tools across both systems
Manage system releases, upgrades, hotfixes, and feature adoption; assess workflow impact and communicate changes to stakeholders
Support interoperability between clinical care teams, laboratory operations, and revenue cycle processes
Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve interface data integrity issues and maintain consistent data exchange
Liaison between clinical departments, lab teams, revenue cycle, IT, and external vendors
Support interdisciplinary initiatives to improve patient care, reduce turnaround time, and enhance data accuracy
Assists all levels of hospital end-users in the resolution of software application problems, and accurately completes applicable tasks within requested time frames
Confers with the hospitals end-user departments, other Information Services (IS) management and staff, and external vendors to communicate technical details, provide follow-up, and to request status updates
Assists all levels of hospital end-users in the implementation of new software applications and/or updates to existing software applications
Utilizes technical, operational, and procedural expertise to monitor and complete the entire implementation process
Consistently demonstrates the ability to master and improve the hospital's various software applications
Studies current processes and workflow, to develop new systems and procedures in an effort to optimize software applications, while improving end user performance and efficiency
Identifies and analyzes all possible alternative solutions to end user problems, then makes recommendations as to the most cost-effective and technically sound approach
Educates all levels of hospital end users, in order to more effectively utilize currently installed software applications
Educates users when non-reported or new problems are identified
Increases self knowledge regarding all various aspects of information technology, especially as it relates to the implementation and support of software applications in the healthcare industry
Accomplishes this by reading industry and professional periodicals, researching the Internet, attending internal and external educational sessions, and by networking with peers
Advises all levels of hospital end users on various information technology issues such as system interfaces, system integration, peripheral hardware selection and compatibility with software applications, and overall application functionality
Maintains accurate and timely documentation
Keeps management informed as to the current status of assigned tasks
Keeps end users informed as to the current status of requested tasks and/or problems
Maintains appropriate documentation with the department for future reference
Utilizes available system tools and utilizes to develop and customize end user menus, screens, reports, and access methods
Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in the implementation or application support of Meditech ancillary and/or business application modules
Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies
Ability to effectively present information to management groups and/or interdisciplinary teams
Able to interpret technical and detailed guidelines, policies, and procedures

Required

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience supporting healthcare information systems, with hands-on configuration and workflow optimization in Athena Health and/or Meditech Laboratory modules
Strong understanding of clinical and laboratory operations, regulatory standards (HIPAA, CLIA, CAP, CMS), and healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, ASTM)
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues, manage projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide effective end-user training
Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and attention-to-detail required

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Medical Laboratory Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
