Irrigation Manager

The Irrigation Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational direction of the Irrigation Department, overseeing a diverse workforce and ensuring high-quality irrigation services while aligning departmental objectives with company goals.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop irrigation staff including supervisors, technicians, and administrative support
Effectively manage and communicate with a bilingual (English/Spanish) workforce
Set performance expectations, conduct performance reviews, and support career development
Promote and enforce company safety policies through clear bilingual communication
Plan, coordinate, and oversee irrigation projects ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost control
Optimize staffing, equipment, materials, and scheduling to meet departmental objectives
Oversee preventive maintenance programs, seasonal start-ups and shutdowns, and emergency repairs
Develop, manage, and control the $6M annual irrigation department budget
Monitor job costing, labor efficiency, margins, and material usage
Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency
Serve as a key point of contact for major clients and stakeholders
Support estimating, proposals, and presentations for irrigation-related projects and services
Ensure service delivery meets contractual requirements and customer expectations
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local irrigation regulations and water-use requirements
Lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
Conduct safety meetings and training sessions in both English and Spanish as needed
Prepare and present regular performance, financial, and KPI reports to senior leadership
Collaborate cross-functionally with landscape maintenance, construction, and enhancement teams

Required

Bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written) — required
7–10 years of progressive irrigation experience, including 3–5 years in a supervisory or management role
Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and P&L responsibility
Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
Excellent communication skills with employees, clients, and leadership
Proficiency with irrigation systems, design software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Turf Management, Agriculture, Business, or related field OR equivalent industry experience
Certified Irrigation Designer (CID), Certified Irrigation Contractor (CIC), or similar certifications
Experience managing municipal, commercial, and large-scale irrigation systems
Familiarity with advanced irrigation controls, smart systems, and water conservation practices
