Responsibilities
Prepare, draft, and file Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, and plans using appropriate software (e.g., Best Case, Lawmatics, etc.)
Conduct appointments with clients and gather required documentation
Review and analyze financial documents such as income statements, tax returns, pay stubs, and creditor statements
Communicate with clients, trustees, and court personnel to resolve issues and provide updates
Monitor and manage deadlines, court dates, and required filings throughout the life of each case
Assist attorneys with plan confirmations, amendments, motions, and objections
Draft correspondence, notices, and pleadings as needed
File documents electronically via CM/ECF (PACER)
Ensure compliance with local and federal bankruptcy rules and procedures
Qualification
Required
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; Paralegal certificate a plus
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience handling Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases
Proficient with bankruptcy software (e.g., Best Case, Lawmatics, etc)
Knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and local rules, particularly Chapter 13 procedures
Familiarity with CM/ECF electronic filing system
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently
Ability to communicate with clients in a timely and respectful manner
Preferred
Experience with both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases
Bilingual (Spanish/English or other) is a plus
Familiarity with creditor negotiations and debt restructuring
