Responsibilities
Responsible for the architecture, administration, and ongoing support of complex Microsoft Windows Server environments across on-prem and cloud platforms
Collaborate closely with developers, infrastructure, and security teams to deploy, migrate, harden, and manage services in cloud environments (AWS/Azure) and in physical data centers, ensuring stability, performance, and compliance
Qualification
Required
Proven ability to administer and support Enterprise Windows Server environments (installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting)
Strong expertise in Active Directory (AD DS), DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy (GPO) design and troubleshooting
Experience managing identity and access controls, including service accounts, OU structure, delegation, and security groups
Proficiency with PowerShell for automation, configuration management, and operational scripting
Experience with Windows Server hardening and security best practices (baseline configuration, auditing, certificate usage)
Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V), including VM lifecycle management and performance tuning
Experience with backup and recovery processes, including restores and disaster recovery testing
Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (event logs, performance monitoring, enterprise monitoring platforms)
Experience supporting and troubleshooting core Windows services and applications (IIS, file services, print services, scheduled tasks, RDP)
Ability to document technical standards, procedures, and recovery runbooks
Preferred
Good understanding of network technologies, e.g., load balancing, service APIs, DNS, gateways, proxies, firewalls
Experience with Microsoft endpoint and server management tooling (SCCM/MECM, WSUS, Intune, Defender for Endpoint)
Experience administering Microsoft Exchange (if applicable), Microsoft 365, and hybrid identity (Entra ID/Azure AD Connect)
Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tooling as they relate to infrastructure and automation
Experience using Git for scripting/configuration version control
Understanding of certificate infrastructure (AD CS, TLS cert lifecycle management)
Experience with cloud compute and Windows workloads in AWS or Azure (EC2, FSx, S3 integrations, Azure VMs, Azure Files)
Experience with high availability and clustering (Failover Clustering, Client, load-balanced services)
Exposure to container concepts and Windows container workloads (nice-to-have)
