AV Field Engineer – Service & Support
EKC Enterprises, Inc. is seeking an AV Field Engineer – Service & Support responsible for providing advanced on-site and remote technical support for commercial audiovisual systems throughout the Houston area. This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing existing AV environments for various clients.

Responsibilities
Provide on-site and remote service support for commercial AV systems, including:
Conference rooms and boardrooms
Video conferencing platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex)
Audio DSP systems, microphones, and loudspeakers
Control systems and video distribution
Digital signage and collaboration spaces
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and configuration issues
Perform preventative maintenance visits, system health checks, and performance tuning
Commission and re-commission systems after service calls, upgrades, or changes
Respond to service tickets and support requests in a timely, professional manner
Serve as escalation support for AV Technicians and Help Desk teams
Interface directly with clients, IT staff, and facility teams to resolve issues and set expectations
Perform minor programming, configuration changes, and firmware updates (DSPs, codecs, control systems)
Document service activities, root cause analysis, and resolutions clearly in service reports
Identify system improvement opportunities and recommend upgrades or best practices
Support occasional small system installs, upgrades, or retrofits as needed
Travel primarily within the Greater Houston area; limited overnight travel may be required
Qualification
Required
3+ years of experience supporting and troubleshooting commercial AV systems
Strong understanding of: Audio signal flow, gain structure, and DSP logic
Strong understanding of: Video conferencing systems and codecs
Strong understanding of: Control systems and AV-over-IP fundamentals
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, integrated AV systems independently
Experience working in customer-facing, service-oriented roles
Familiarity with ticketing systems and service workflows
Valid Texas driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in office, industrial, and healthcare environments
Preferred
AVIXA CTS certification (CTS-I or CTS-D a plus)
Manufacturer certifications (QSC, Biamp, Crestron, Extron, Shure, Poly, Cisco)
Networking knowledge relevant to AV support (IP addressing, VLANs, QoS, multicast)
Experience supporting enterprise or IT-integrated AV environments
Prior experience with managed AV services or SLA-based support
