Responsibilities

Conceptualizes and designs a broad range of complex product manufacturing tools, gages, and special machines
Recommends changes in tool designs to facilitate processing and production of the product
Reviews gage and tool designs for compatibility with product design
Provides recommendations of product changes to reduce tooling cost and delivery time of product
Uses Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Engineering tools to perform job requirements. Also, recommends enhancements to existing CAD/CAE tools to improve productivity
Represents organization as direct interface with Design Agency, NWC production sites, customers, and suppliers to assist in tool design related issues and new business solicitation
Guides the efforts of other Tool Designers

Required

2+ years of experience in a position equivalent to a Tool Designer
High School Diploma
Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

Preferred

Formal training in tool design equivalent to Industrial Technology curriculum, completion of Tool and Die Apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience
Demonstrates knowledge of some manufacturing processes and fabrication techniques
