Responsibilities

Execute the Architecture: Build table structures and data models exactly as defined by the Architecture team while contributing to the design
Advanced SQL Development: Write performant, version-controlled SQL to transform raw data (Claims, EHR, Enrollment) into analytical tables
Performance Tuning: Monitor query performance and apply clustering/partitioning strategies to keep our warehouse (Snowflake or BigQuery) fast and cost-efficient
Pipeline Maintenance: troubleshoot daily load failures and ensure data quality SLAs are met
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support: Work closely with Business Analysts to ensure that stakeholder data requests are met and the correct data is available for reporting
Semantic Layer: Manage the LookML repository, creating dimensions, measures, and derived tables that accurately reflect business logic
Dashboard Support: Support business stakeholders by building complex Explores and troubleshooting dashboard performance issues
Code Governance: Maintain a clean Git workflow, ensuring all LookML code is peer-reviewed and error-free before deployment
HIPAA Adherence: Handle all data with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations, ensuring PHI (Protected Health Information) is only accessible to authorized users
Security Implementation: Apply Row-Level Security (RLS) and Column-Level Security protocols within the database and Looker to enforce governance policies

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
3-5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, BI Development, or Analytics Engineering
SQL Mastery: You are an expert in SQL (Window functions, CTEs, JSON parsing) and can write complex transformations from scratch
Deep familiarity with Snowflake or Google BigQuery
Strong proficiency in LookML
Proven experience working with healthcare data standards and compliance requirements
Familiarity with extracting data from REST/SOAP APIs
Basic knowledge of Python for automation tasks
Demonstrated compatibility with Bluestone's purpose, core focus, and core values
Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
