Responsibilities

Apply technical and professional expertise to all aspects of service delivery, support and management of enterprise data center hardware as required to support day-to-day operations; Contribute positively to the development and operation of Products and Services by participating as a data center hardware engineer to ensure that services meet delivery objectives
Install, configure and maintain enterprise-class infrastructure, including server hardware; Coordinate installation, upgrades, and maintenance activities with teammates and other stakeholders to minimize impact to business operations. Diagnose and remediate a wide variety of hardware issues involving servers, networking, and other enterprise equipment and facilities. Arrange for delivery of parts and service with outside vendors. Participate in identification and resolution of incidents, analyze and present solutions to problems; implement changes in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with change and asset management policies
Develop a working knowledge of CAS’s applications, products and services, and their constituencies. Identify opportunities and recommend solutions to improve team effectiveness. Participate in Technology initiatives to address service issues. Keep abreast of technical aspects of the live environment. Attend learning and other career development opportunities
Participate with teammates in 24x7x365 on-call support to service urgent hardware failures

Required

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college, or equivalent military experience
0 to 2 years of related work experience
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and eagerness to correctly install, configure, upgrade, and remediate problems involving server hardware and other enterprise-class equipment (e.g., network, storage), facilities (e.g., cabling, HVAC, power), and related software tools
Proficient using Linux and Windows operating systems; Applies network fundamentals (e.g., L1/2/3, DNS, DHCP) and basic information security concepts
Works effectively and safely in an enterprise data center environment, including while alone; Adheres to all safety protocols; Takes proper precautions to ensure work is performed safely; Recognizes when unsafe conditions may exist and takes appropriate actions; Uses and maintains tools of the trade properly
Accepts personal accountability for the quality and timeliness of work requested and performed, and for delivering outstanding service to the team's customers
Experience applying ITIL service management concepts; Openly provides information at audience-appropriate level of detail when preparing plans, reports, and documentation
Learns and applies established team practices; Champions consensus to adapt methods of work to fit new situations; Contributes to creating and meeting team objectives that help move the team toward accomplishing its mission in support of the company's overall mission
While performing the responsibilities of the position, the worker must be able to lift and manipulate devices weighing up to 50 pounds un-aided; Move heavier objects using a manual pallet jack, hand truck, cart, and powered rack lift, and engage other workers as needed; Perform work within underfloor plenums and within equipment racks using a step ladder as necessary; Manipulate large and small, sensitive electronic and mechanical components; Use industry-standard hand tools, test equipment, computers, and communication devices; Use required and/or appropriate personal protection equipment

Preferred

Tech certifications (CCNA, CompTIA, BICSI, ITIL, IAM, etc.) are pluses
Ability to create scripts in a shell language is highly desired
Enterprise-class server hardware repair, configuration, and firmware updates (e.g., Dell R-Series)
Structured and unstructured cabling
Work tracking, service management, and asset Management tools (e.g. iVanti, Cherwell, Jira, Visio)
