Responsibilities

Plans and executes research experiments in the context of the laboratory’s overall research program
Assists other laboratory staff and FTL on research projects and techniques
Analyzes and interprets research data, communicates results and methods in reports and manuscripts
Collaborates with industry/academia to apply the results of research
Develops new techniques, products, practices, and new research protocols
Provide calibration of all ELISA plate readers used in the laboratory
Performing ELISA assays on malaria pre-clinical (animal) and clinical (human) samples following approved protocols and SOPs using SoftMax Pro software to analyze ELISA data
Perform T-cell assays and isotyping assays using clinical human samples from malaria studies
QC all ELISA data generated in the lab
Store, track, and inventory manage all pre-clinical and clinical samples before and after ELISA experiments
Maintain and calibrate all laboratory equipment used in the Immunology laboratory
Assist with maintenance and ordering of needed supplies to keep laboratory operations
Assist the FTL and other staff on protocols, procedures, and SOPs, and proper equipment operation, cleaning, and storage
Develop and test new immunology procedures and SOPs
Organize Immunological data (ELISA, T-Cell assay, etc.) into graphs, tables, and charts to contribute to the publishing of scientific manuscripts
Maintain and record data into laboratory notebook to collect, organize, and store data collected from experiments
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in a science related field with at least five (5) years of Immunology laboratory experience
At least five (5) years of conducting immunology assays including but not limited to ELISAs, T-cell assays, and isotyping assays
Excellent documentation and communication skills
High attention to detail
Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and Project
Ability to lift or carry less than 25 pounds, lift or carry 25 – 50 pounds, push or pull less than 25 pounds, push or pull 25 – 45 pounds, reach above shoulder level, and use both hands
Will be required to stand or walk more than 25 of 30 min., and bend repeatedly
Must have depth perception, have correctable near vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, and perform repetitive activities
Ability to work alone and closely with others, work protracted or irregular hours, work on slippery or uneven working surfaces, and work with hands in water
Will be required to be in contact with human blood or other body fluids
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and lab coat

Preferred

Interest in malaria research is a plus
