Design Project Coordinator II, III, IV-CDO
The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Design Project Coordinator to support the development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) and assist with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) across their projects. This role involves coordinating complex engineering and architectural projects, ensuring consistency in standards, and leading staff training initiatives.

Responsibilities
Serves as program coordinator responsible for coordination of complex engineering/architectural projects from initiation to completion
Designs projects, making design calculations and sketches of plans, layouts and typical sections
May assist in planning and coordinating office operations
Receives project assignments, determines work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate projects already underway
Reviews and compiles complete plan packages for submission to the responsible engineer or architect for review and signature
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
May lead project or planning activities of professional and technical employees or consultants
Performs data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plan development
Assists in planning and coordinating office operations
Provides training for area of responsibility
Serves as lead worker and subject matter expert
Qualification
Required
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies
Design Project Coordinator II: 8 years of experience in design, plan preparation, construction inspection, surveying
Design Project Coordinator III & IV: 9 years of experience in design, plan preparation, construction inspection, surveying
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle
Safety Impact Certificate-given upon hire
Computer-aided drafting and design systems
Applicable engineering workstations and applications to support efficient planning and design activities
Interactive graphic and design information systems
Applicable computer software applications and hardware
Higher mathematics
Performing advanced drafting
Prioritizing projects/workload and meeting deadlines
Performing calculations using algebra, trigonometry and geometry
Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems
Analyzing and organizing business and technical data
Design and plan preparation methods and requirements
Leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others
Applying engineering principles, practices, and methods in job responsibilities
Application of engineering fundamentals
Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints and maps
Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
