South Florida Water Management District is seeking a Scientist 3 to support the management and optimization of the District’s Stormwater Treatment Areas. The role involves conducting environmental assessments, performing field work, and participating in scientific research studies related to wetland ecosystems and water quality.

Responsibilities
Conducting environmental assessments and participating in scientific research studies
Performing a variety of duties that includes a combination of field work, data management, data analyses, scientific writing, and technical presentations
Primary field tasks would include water quality and soil sampling, vegetation surveys, calibrating and deploying monitoring equipment, and assisting with remote sensing surveys via drone
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Natural or Physical Sciences
2+ years of experience that demonstrates measurable career progression within scientific discipline that can be applied to support the District's strategic goals and objectives
Valid State of Florida Driver's License
Basic water skills
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Preferred
Introductory experience with data analysis software such as R
GIS software programs like ArcGIS Pro
Experience working in wetland field conditions under typical Florida summer conditions
Experience on small watercraft
Familiarity with the wetland flora and fauna of South Florida
Experience operating airboats
