Responsibilities

Lead underwriting strategy across commercial, farm, and personal lines to support profitable growth and the right mix of business

Partner closely with leaders across the company to spot trends, solve problems, and strengthen processes

Coach and develop underwriting managers and teams, building a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement

Drive underwriting excellence through clear guidelines, authority, audits, and operational best practices

Use data and market intelligence to guide decisions, improve customer and agency experience, and stay competitive

Support product development and market expansion efforts in collaboration with Marketing, Claims, and other teams

Required

10+ years of progressive underwriting experience, including 5+ years in Commercial Package and/or Commercial Agribusiness underwriting (BOP-only experience doesn't meet this requirement)

7+ years leading teams, with a track record of mentoring, succession planning, and building engagement

Deep knowledge of the commercial lines marketplace, insurance regulations, contracts, and pricing dynamics

Strong analytical mindset and comfort using data to tell a clear performance story

A steady, collaborative leadership style and the ability to influence across functions

Excellent communication skills, including presenting to executives and partners

Bachelor's degree required (Insurance, Risk Management, Math/Stats, Finance, Economics, Business, or similar)
