Electronic Security Sys Tech I

The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled Electronic Security Systems Technician to install, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic security systems including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercoms. This role involves working independently, coordinating with internal and external teams, and applying knowledge and technical expertise to ensure efficient system performance.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Installs, maintains, and inspects electronics security equipment and systems including those related to communications, cameras, lighting, sound, or security access control equipment
Trains users of security equipment after repair and/or installation
Installs electronic security systems including access control, intrusion alarms, CCTV, intercoms and door/ gate entry systems
Performs set up of network-enabled devices such as IP cameras and door controllers
Programs control panels, NVR/DVR units, and software applications to meet customer requirements
Configures system settings, permissions, schedules, and alarms for optimal performance
Performs routine system inspections and preventative maintenance
Diagnoses and repairs system malfunctions, wiring faults, and component failures
Responds to service calls in a timely and professional manner
Conducts functional and acceptance testing of installed systems
Works with vendors and contractors to source components and support complex installations
Reviews drawings and schematics for compliance to industry standards
Conducts physical and environmental assessments to identify vulnerabilities
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Required

High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies
3 years of experience in electronic security systems equipment installation and repair or related experience
Valid driver's license
