Motorsports Electrified Powertrain Engineer

Ford Motor Company is a global leader in the automotive industry, seeking an experienced Electrified Powertrain Systems Engineer to join their Global Motorsports department. The role involves leading the HV Hardware Architecture for Ford Performance’s Electrified Motorsports vehicles and ensuring compatibility of components within the electrified system.

Responsibilities

Lead electrified powertrain system architecture, component package, and integration
Lead strategy for xEV: Cooling, HV Electrical Distribution System (EDS), eMotor/Inverter, and Driveline
Work with HV Battery and Driveline engineers to ensure adequate sizing and compatibility of all components within the electrified system
Identify and select partners to source eDrive components, including power electronics
Design and analysis of the mechanical driveline after the motor output
Create core systems document (P-diagrams, DFMEA, Boundary Diagrams, etc.)
Interface with key racing partners to offer support related to component sourcing within in electrified series (WRC, Formula 1, etc.)

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
2+ years of experience related to electrified vehicle powertrain systems development
2+ years of experience in HV EDS design (fusing, bussing, contactor selection, creepage/clearance, etc.)
Knowledge of HV EDS testing methods
Strong communication and organizational skills
Strong team player, ability to work with multiple suppliers, and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with high responsibility

Preferred

M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
Ford HV Level 2 safety training, or equivalent
Experience creating core systems document (P-diagrams, DFMEA, Boundary Diagrams, etc.)
Working knowledge of eMotor and Inverter operation and testing methods
Experience with design or development of mechanical driveline components (gearbox, differential, transmission, etc.)
Experience with engineering software (MATLAB, 1D Simulation, CAD)
Possess a competitive spirit, and interest in professional motorsports
International and Domestic travel may be required
