Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the accounting function to ensure accuracy and integrity
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and reclassifications
Assist in tracking and reporting impact metrics related to B Corp certification and other sustainability goals
Assist with proper classification between operating expenses and capitalized costs
Manage general accounting, including AR/AP, account reconciliations, and appropriate invoice coding
Manage cash position, bank reconciliations, and administer the weekly check run
Develop and maintain systems of control, SOPs, and policies for all accounting transactions
Maintain fixed asset lists and related depreciation schedules
Oversee sales tax collection and reporting; prepare schedules for corporate tax returns
Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures
Reconcile reporting from various platforms (Shopify, etc.) to the primary accounting system
Prepare monthly financial statements, ledger summaries, and forecasting reports
Create monthly sales and budget reports; provide budget-to-actual analysis for leadership
Analyze trends and profitability for current and future business offerings
Partner with various departments to ensure accurate data distribution and embrace tech automation
Other tasks as necessary and assigned
Qualification
Required
Prior experience in an accounting and finance role
Positive interpersonal skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Ability to interact effectively with various people to secure necessary information and gain cooperation in complying with processes and guidelines
Impeccable attention to detail, prioritization, multi-tasking and task planning
Strong quantitative analysis and analytical problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Proficiency in MS Office
Advanced Excel skills
QuickBooks Enterprise experience
5+ years of accounting experience including responsibility for accounting transactions (GL, AR & AP), preferably in the wine or food industry
Preferred
Knowledge of the food and wine industry
Shopify experience a plus
