Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated research technician for the Celiac Disease Center. The role involves providing assistance to researchers by supporting clinical, translational, and basic scientific research on patient-derived specimens.

Responsibilities

Receive and log participant samples and clinical information
Maintain the sample database and lab notebooks following standard operating procedures
Isolate lymphocyte fractions from intestinal biopsy and peripheral blood samples
Perform cryopreservation/cryorecovery of isolated lymphocytes; cell culture; ex vivo immunoassays; and flow cytometric analysis of lymphocyte populations
Organize and compile results for presentation
Perform additional related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
High level of interest in biomedical research
Strong analytical and organizational skills; detail-oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques

Preferred

Prior experience with flow cytometry, cell sorting, tissue culture, and molecular biology
Experience in a Cell Biology/Immunology laboratory
