UsX Microelectronics Engineer

Responsibilities

Design, analyze, and optimize microelectronic circuits and systems for mission-critical unmanned platforms. Create integrated circuits, semiconductors, and microprocessors that meet performance, efficiency, and cost requirements while functioning under demanding conditions
Integrate ASICs, FPGAs, and SoCs to support secure communications, sensor fusion, and autonomous operations
Support schematic capture, PCB layout, and modeling of RF, digital, and mixed-signal components
Conduct failure mode analyses, prototype testing, reliability analysis and testing, and life-cycle assessments of microelectronic subsystems
Incorporate anti-tamper features, trusted computing practices, and supply chain risk management measures in compliance with DoD microelectronics standards
Participate in laboratory and field-level testing, including hardware-in-the-loop and system-of-systems integration
Provide detailed data analysis, technical reporting, and recommendations to SOCOM stakeholders
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (systems, software, mechanical, cyber, and operations engineers) to ensure fully integrated solutions
Support technology insertion, rapid prototyping, field modifications, and mission-specific configurations
Troubleshoot deployed systems and provide on-site support as needed
Completes all other tasks and duties as needed to help drive Liberty Alliance’s Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our organization’s values

Required

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance
Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in circuit design, semiconductor fabrication, and proficiency with EDA tools such as Cadence or Synopsys. Skilled in testing, debugging, and programming with VHDL, Verilog, or Python, plus knowledge of materials science and device performance
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess system performance, identify risks, and deliver actionable recommendations
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports, briefings, and presentations
Teamwork & Collaboration: Effective in joint, inter-agency, and coalition environments, working with government, industry, and academia
Leadership & Advisory Skills: Experience advising senior leaders, acquisition officers, or program managers on technical matters
Planning & Coordination: Skilled in organizing, planning, and executing complex engineering projects or testing events
Adaptability: Ability to thrive in austere, dynamic, and fast-paced environments
Travel Flexibility: Willingness to support CONUS and OCONUS travel for experimentation and operational events
Computer Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, collaboration tools, and mission-planning software
Onsite Requirement: This is a full-time, onsite role; must be able to perform duties in person at assigned location(s)
Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related discipline (required; advanced degree preferred)
5+ years of professional engineering experience in microelectronics design and integration
Prior experience supporting defense-related or SOCOM engineering programs
Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, MIL-STD requirements, and Trusted Foundry Program guidelines
Experience with Business Process Analysis (BPA) or continuous improvement methodologies
