Forming Process Engineer

Responsibilities
Apply engineering expertise to understand and resolve manufacturing issues related to the forming process
Support technical projects and programs to improve capability, enhance knowledge, and optimize costs
Develop and execute project plans to achieve goals without compromising safety, quality, or intellectual property
Solve problems using a methodical approach (e.g., KT and MEE), data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration
Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operations
Develop systems to monitor and proactively address equipment and process performance
Lead or support Process Excellence (PEx) projects using DMAIC, DESGN, PQA, Lean, and Sprint methodologies
Maintain ISO compliance through documentation updates and publishing
Provide training to operations and engineering teams regarding equipment and process changes
Communicate status updates effectively to plant staff and leadership
Actively contribute to plant safety initiatives
Document work and generate intellectual property as appropriate
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Glass, Ceramics, Mechanical, or Chemical disciplines preferred)
1+ years of engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Ability to learn new technologies and processes quickly
Strong scientific and engineering skills to deeply understand and resolve problems
Collaboration across organizational boundaries and integration of solutions
Use of scientific methods and engineering principles for thorough problem-solving
Translation of engineering solutions into process improvements
Creative and innovative problem-solving abilities
Understanding of process control and discipline methodology
Strong experimental design practices
Ability to multitask and prioritize independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Results-oriented with strong data analysis and interpretation skills
Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC/DESGN) methodology
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document experiments, create detailed reports, and present findings effectively
Preferred
Experience in glass manufacturing
Broad knowledge of materials and mechanical engineering principles (Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Material Science)
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing techniques
Strong data analysis skills, including mining, manipulation, and report publishing
