Senior Mechanical CAD Designer

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical CAD Designer to design mounting structures for avionics in aircraft, utilizing 3D CAD software and coordinating with project teams.

Responsibilities

Applies technical knowledge to design, investigate and resolve assigned design problems utilizing standard engineering and design standards
Utilizes 3D computer aided design (CAD) software for design solutions and drawings
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of configuration management of large assemblies
Creates documentation and presents engineering changes to the change control board
Performs tolerance analysis and demonstrates thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Performs hands-on investigation of problems and validation of solutions
Creates and presents design review documentation to engineering management
Interacts with designers and engineers across multiple disciplines
May direct the activities of lower-level designers
Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

Required

Typically requires an Associates degree or a certificate from a recognized organization indicating completion of training in ProEngineer/CREO, NX, CATIA or IDEAS design software plus thirteen or more years of progressive experience utilizing CAD software with at least five of those years spent utilizing ProEngineer/CREO, NX, CATIA, IDEAS or related engineering design software
Must have a complete and in-depth understanding of engineering design concepts and principles and possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly, applying them accurately throughout an evolving environment
Must have aptitude and demonstrated design experience utilizing 3D CAD engineering software for design and drawing creation
Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and have mechanical aptitude
Must be able to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases, and determine the appropriate approach at the task level or project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems
Must have excellent communication, documentation, presentation, computer, interpersonal and hands-on skills
Must have a working knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance is required
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

ProEngineer/CREO, NX, CATIA or IDEAS design software
CREO or NX preferred
