Responsibilities

Identify, critically evaluate, and pursue acquisition opportunities centered on the company’s strategic priorities and objectives
Cultivate and build relationships with prospective acquisition targets
Negotiate and document key acquisition terms and conditions
Primary responsibility for managing and coordinating all aspects of acquisition diligence, both externally and with respect to internal subject-matter stakeholders
Work closely and in coordination with the Vice President of Business Development, legal counsel, FP&A personnel, field and corporate management, and other internal and external resources to facilitate acquisition project and process management, diligence, approvals, and closing
Support and contribute to the preparation of board pre-read materials and presentations to facilitate acquisition approvals
Understand the company’s various markets and their respective competitive landscapes
Understand the company’s strategic objectives and contribute to enhancing the tactics and approaches utilized to achieve them
Regularly monitor developments in the construction-aggregates industry and identify emerging trends, markets, and opportunities
Travel domestically as needed to facilitate the responsivities above

Required

MBA, CPA, CFA, JD, or a master's degree in engineering, geology, or a similar field
At least five years of M&A, corporate development, or similar experience, ideally in or with substantial exposure to the construction-aggregates or civil-construction spaces
Strong business and financial acumen
Strong relationship-management and negotiation skills
Strong project- and process-management skills
Excellent written and oral communicator with strong interpersonal skills

Preferred

Additional prior experience in one or more of the following areas a plus: mining, civil, or mechanical engineering; mining operations or management; geology; commercial or industrial real estate; Class I railroads; market analysis; or FP&A
Experience with SharePoint and GIS a plus
