2026 Summer Legal Intern, Bolder Advocacy
Alliance for Justice (AFJ) is a national association of over 140 organizations committed to progressive values and the creation of an equitable society. They are seeking a 2026 Summer Legal Intern for their Bolder Advocacy program, where the intern will support nonprofits engaging in advocacy and policymaking through research, drafting, and attending training sessions.
Non-profit Organization Management
Responsibilities
Attend BA trainings to learn nonprofit law and public presentation skills. Support trainers as needed (e.g. answer substantive questions, tech and logistic support, etc.)
Research, draft, and respond to technical assistance questions under the supervision of BA attorneys
Monitor federal, state, and local legislation that affects nonprofit advocacy or issues that impact the progressive nonprofit sector
Track developments in nonprofit advocacy and write blog posts or articles on the topic
Attend training preparation calls, partnership meetings, and/or community convenings
Conduct research and analysis related to a broad array of public interest law and/or progressive issues
Research and conduct outreach to new audiences or nonprofits primarily working in AFJ’s priority issue areas
Work with AFJ’s Communications and Development teams to draft press releases, blog posts, web and social media content
Perform other duties as necessary
Qualification
Required
Current law student
Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills
Ability to analyze and clearly explain legal concepts plainly
An interest in public policy and/or working with nonprofit organizations
An interest in nonprofit advocacy law (lobbying, campaign finance, etc.)
A demonstrated commitment to the public interest
Applicant must be able to work 40 hours per week
