Responsibilities
Hire, train, evaluate and terminate craft personnel, following established company policies, procedures, and practices
Supervise craft personnel and other contractors to ensure project is constructed by design, within budget and on schedule
Assist project management with drawing interpretations and recommend construction methods and equipment
Ensure all personnel comply with safety and working procedures
Assume responsibility for productivity of project
Promote a safe work environment
Supervise Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing construction efforts to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives and other contractors
Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site functions
Supervise mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades as required by the contract
May authorize and approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc
Provide technical assistance, interpret drawings, and recommend construction methods and equipment as required
Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards
Ensure all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc. Document all violations; notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required
Work closely with the Safety Director to create a constant awareness including rigid enforcement of the requirements of Ajax Building Company’s Safety Policy
Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project
Perform and/or supervise building layout and field engineering
Qualification
Required
8 years of supervisory experience in the construction field
8 years of supervisory experience in the construction field
Heavy Mechanical and or Electrical background
Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods)
Through knowledge of MEP trades
Thorough knowledge of all safety requirements
The ability to motivate employees and handle any situation that occurs on the project
Must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction)
Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers
Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding
Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height
Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field
10 or more years of supervisory experience in the construction field
Heavy Mechanical and or Electrical background within a commercial GC or subcontractor in a supervisory role
