Responsibilities

With appropriate training, use mechanically driven and servo-hydraulic test machines to perform mechanical tests on materials including tensile, bending, compression, and fatigue tests
With appropriate training, safely operate tools and equipment within the AME lab spaces including but not limited to: powered hand tools (saws, drills); power tools (bandsaw, lathe, cutoff saws, drill press, grinders); air-powered tools, hand tools, and similar tools
With appropriate training, use analysis equipment such as digital multimeters, handheld measurement tools, optical microscopes, and hardness testers
Receive direction for work processes, priority of assignments, and expected completion dates from AME colleagues. Provide timely feedback on progress; raise issues regarding resource constraints; and demonstrate capability to track and manage parallel work flows
Work with engineers and peers to ensure a collaborative, productive, and safe working environment

Required

High School Diploma or GED
3+ years hands-on experience in a mechanical assembly, physical testing lab, and/or R&D environment with mechanical/materials testing activities (such as QA/QC in the manufacturing industry)
1+ year experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) platforms

Preferred

2-year associate of science or engineering in engineering technology, mechanical, or materials engineering (nice to have)
Hands-on experience setting up and conducting mechanical tests of materials, such as uniaxial tension tests. Ability to assemble test fixturing
Experience applying, wiring, and recording/reading strain gages and thermocouples applied to test samples
Soldering and brazing experience including wire bonding and leak-proof brazed copper connections
