Senior Structural Engineer (Remote)
Platform Recruitment is working with a growing and innovative engineering business operating at the forefront of mass timber and advanced structural design. They are looking to hire a Senior Structural Engineer to play a key role in the design and delivery of mass timber and hybrid structural systems across commercial and institutional projects in North America.

Responsibilities
Lead the structural design of mass timber and hybrid systems, including CLT, glulam, and timber–steel solutions
Perform structural analysis and calculations in accordance with North American codes and standards
Design gravity and lateral systems for low- to mid-rise buildings
Develop and review structural calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
Contribute to the design and detailing of timber connections and interfaces
Work closely with architects, fabricators, and construction teams to ensure buildable, efficient solutions
Support coordination between timber, steel, and concrete systems
Take technical ownership of projects from concept through construction
Review work produced by other engineers and provide technical guidance where required
Participate in design reviews and support construction-phase engineering
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and clients
Communicate design intent, risks, and assumptions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in a senior structural engineering role
Demonstrated experience with mass timber systems such as CLT and glulam
Strong knowledge of North American structural codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, and NDS (CSA O86 a plus)
Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, RISA, SAP2000, RAM, or similar
Solid understanding of timber, steel, and concrete behavior and their interaction
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while contributing effectively to a wider team
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Must have experience working on North American projects
Eligible to work in the USA, Canada, or Mexico
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred but not essential
