Responsibilities
Provide leadership with full-stack development of a highly responsive web application that needs to work offline, including architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment
Expand our client web application and customer frameworks that use RESTful web services and offline service workers; champion robust caching and sync strategies
Collaborate with project stakeholders, discuss their vision and ideas, contribute to project plans, build and test enhancements, and review with stakeholders
Provide technical leadership and mentoring through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing; help define and uphold coding standards
Assist the support team to identify and document issues and develop durable fixes; drive root-cause analysis with monitoring and alerting
Collaborate with designers to develop accessible, responsive user interfaces for desktop and mobile devices
Advance our agile/Scrum development process, and development practices to improve quality and delivery speed
Design efficient SQL Server schemas for performance, scale and reliability
Instrument, profile, and optimize front-end (bundle size, rendering, network) and back-end (API latency, data access) performance
Enforce security best practices and mitigate common web vulnerabilities
Collaborate on Azure cloud integration, infrastructure as code, and environment hardening
Qualification
Required
5+ years developing JavaScript applications in production environments
Proficiency in front-end technologies: HTML5, ECMAScript 6 (ES6+), CSS3, Bootstrap, MVVM/MV* frameworks (e.g., Knockout, Angular, React, Vue)
Proficiency in back-end technologies: Node.js, Express, SQL, RESTful APIs, IIS
Experience with SQL Server: T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, query plans, performance tuning, and transaction handling
Experience with JavaScript libraries and tools: jQuery, Socket.io, Stripe, Async/Await
Experience with databases and caching: SQL Server scripting, Redis
Proficiency in using Visual Studio Code and GitHub for source control, with disciplined branching and code review practices
Experience with JavaScript dependency management and build tools such as NPM, Nodemon
Proven track record of performance optimization and secure software development practices
Experience integrating with cloud services (preferably Azure; AWS acceptable)—including storage, messaging, serverless/functions, identity, and monitoring
Skilled in refactoring code and maintaining code quality standards
Preferred
Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility and nuances with flex containers, Bootstrap, select pickers, Knockout, TinyMCE or other text/content editors, and offline storage is a plus
An understanding of current technologies and a commitment to keeping up with new technology and development techniques
Ability to quickly prototype concepts to work through the elaboration phase of development planning
Ability to work effectively in a small team, demonstrating a collaborative and supportive attitude
Strong problem-solving skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality solutions
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical customers, demonstrate empathy, and maintain a professional demeanor during customer interactions
