CORPORATE ACCOUNTANT – OR- CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)/CONTROLLER

The Corporate Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, banking activities, tax compliance, financial reporting, and regulatory filings across multiple entities.

Responsibilities
Manage daily banking transactions across multiple financial institutions
Reconcile operating bank accounts and loan accounts, including lines of credit
Monitor cash activity and prepare estimated federal tax payments
Prepare monthly financial statements for multiple related entities
Maintain and update fixed asset and depreciation schedules
Perform financial analysis to support management decision-making
Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by executive leadership
Perform monthly bank, loan, and balance sheet account reconciliations
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns for multiple states
Prepare and file CAT, IFTA, Weight/Distance, and other required tax returns
Prepare Tennessee Franchise & Excise Tax returns and Tangible Personal Property Tax assessments
Prepare and file annual unclaimed funds reports
Compile and provide financial information to external accountants for corporate income tax preparation
Prepare and file required IRS forms including 941s, 1099s, 1096s, 1094-C
Coordinate 1095-C preparation and distribution with PEO providers
Prepare census reports and Form 5500 filings when applicable
Administer property, liability, workers’ compensation, and insurance programs
Coordinate insurance renewals and provide financial documentation and analysis
Reconcile property, liability, workers’ compensation, and insurance premiums and ensure timely payment
Respond to customer and vendor credit reference requests
Prepare and maintain financial and operational documents such as leases and agreements
Manage vehicle and aircraft registration renewals
Coordinate annual chemical inventory filings in collaboration with the Safety Manager
Analyze utility contracts and support renewals for natural gas and electric services
Prepare documentation and financial analyses to support annual audits
Provide requested information to auditors, accountants, and regulatory agencies
Review, reconcile, and support audits of company profit-sharing plans
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
Strong understanding of GAAP, tax compliance, and financial reporting requirements
Strong knowledge of accounting and financial operations within a manufacturing industry environment
Experience with multi-state tax filings and regulatory reporting
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Minimum of 5 years of corporate or multi-entity accounting experience preferred
