Responsibilities
Provide legal advice, negotiating, and developing cybersecurity, data privacy and artificial intelligence provisions and contract forms for business transactions and initiatives, including vendor and third-party service provider contracts
Track and report on laws, regulations and guidance worldwide related to cybersecurity, data privacy and AI to ensure Prudential’s practices with regard to personal information of customers and employees, cross border data transfers, breach notifications, as well as our use of artificial intelligence and our cybersecurity program, comply with applicable global laws and regulations, including GLBA, GDPR, DORA, HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, EU AI Act, CO AI Act, NYDFS Part 500, and state financial/insurance privacy laws as well as company policies and practices
Conduct legal research, including but not limited to multijurisdictional surveys, and drafting legal memoranda and other forms of business-friendly guidance related cybersecurity, data privacy and AI
Partner with stakeholders across the enterprise, including Privacy Officers, Compliance, Risk Management and other business lawyers/units on matters related to cybersecurity, data privacy and AI
Assess and respond to cybersecurity and data privacy incidents
Qualification
Required
A minimum of 3 years of corporate, law firm, in-house and/or regulatory legal experience, preferably involving financial services
An active license to practice law and, as needed, the ability to qualify for in-house licensure in NJ
Strong research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and in teams, and the ability to influence through collaboration without direct authority
A superior work ethic combined with the ability to consistently maintain high service, quality, efficiency and ethical standards
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where coordination and teamwork is a priority
Comfort with handling a wide variety of work and a commitment to transforming and modernizing business practices
Preferred
Strong knowledge and experience advising on and/or operationalizing legal advice related to global cybersecurity, data privacy and/or AI laws
Experience with cybersecurity, data privacy and/or AI issues in business transactions and contracts
