Motor Carrier Audit Administrative Intern

The State of Iowa - Executive Branch is seeking a Motor Carrier Audit Administrative Intern to assist the Motor Vehicle Division with auditing motor carriers. The intern will perform reviews of fuel tax returns and registration filings, prepare documentation and final audit reports.

Perform review of International Fuel Tax Association (IFTA) fuel tax returns & International Registration Plan (IRP) filings
Prepare work papers to document analytical procedures in the audit process
Prepare final reports with audit findings

Required

Currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution
Eligible majors: Accounting Student
Minimum course work required: Intermediate Accounting I & II and Cost Accounting
Ability to interpret and apply different federal reimbursement policies and procedures based on the claimant's type of business
Ability to work well with others
Effective communication skills
Knowledge of auditing techniques and cost accounting
Experience working with excel spreadsheets
Experience working with word documents
Ability to navigate through various computer systems and applications
