Responsibilities
Create and implement a partner strategy for maximizing the impact of a product partnership – both on the integration experience for Square and the seller, plus economic and commercial viability of the partnership
Source, evaluate, and secure products partnerships aligned with product priorities. Lead negotiations across product and commercial terms, integration scope, and GTM commitments. Structure partnership agreements that balance partner needs with Square's product objectives
Lead partner initiatives cross-functionally, aligning Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Operations around shared goals. Provide structured partner feedback and market insights to influence product and GTM decisions. Advocate for partners while maintaining disciplined prioritization and strong business judgment
Own overall integration experience, including the quality as measured by adoption and usage. Use data and insights to continuously refine partner-level strategy and execution
Qualification
Required
9+ years of business development or partner management experience, preferably at an innovative commerce or payments company
A demonstrated track record of success managing product partnerships and programs
Proven ability to build C-suite relationships and navigate external organizations both to identify internal champions and to influence decision makers
Expert negotiator with a strong understanding of commercial contracts and complex negotiating dynamics that may be simultaneously cooperative and competitive
Ultimate cross-functional team player: Establish yourself as the go-to voice for our partnership strategy that can be relied on by multiple internal functions and teams
Deep comfort operating in the ambiguity of an ever-evolving product
Genuine interest and savviness in product – especially working with multiple product and engineering teams for a single partner
Willingness to travel (primarily domestically but sometimes internationally) for both internal and external meetings
BS/BA required
Preferred
