Responsibilities
Caring for research animals. Feeding, watering, temperature monitoring. Assisting scientists with research projects, weighing animals, and collecting data
General research farm maintenance. Cleaning research facilities after use and preparing them for new experiments. Maintenance of equipment. Care of buildings and grounds
Assist with feed manufacturing and general feed mill maintenance
Record keeping, updating operating procedures and preparing reports
Qualification
Required
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate
Thorough knowledge of principles, methods, & techniques of practical farm management as related to institutional needs and purposes
Thorough knowledge of animal husbandry and of farm building and equipment care and maintenance
Ability to plan and direct large scale diversified farm activities, to supervise large groups of farm workers in farm activities and to direct skilled and unskilled employees in varied farm operations
Ability to keep records and follow SOP's
Repeatedly lift, pull and push 50+ pounds
Perform heavy manual labor for extensive periods of time
