Plastics Engineer
medmix is a global leader in high-precision delivery devices, dedicated to innovation and technological advancement. The Plastics Engineer will be responsible for planning and coordinating manufacturing processes for injection molded products, ensuring quality and efficiency throughout production.
Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing equipment and processes to produce high quality injection molded product
Coordinate the molding efforts on new program launches
Set up and/or revise manufacturing processes
Assist in problem solving and continuous process improvements
Design and implement injection molding processes for new and existing products
Establish robust and repeatable process parameters
Develop and implement scientific-based processes
Generate documentation and controls to ensure efficient and optimal run consistency
Continuously improve manufacturing methods and processes
Utilize techniques like Design of Experiments (DOEs), lean manufacturing principles, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Analyze manufacturing data
Monitor cycle times and production efficiency
Identify and resolve production issues and defects using root cause analysis
Develop and maintain process documentation
Ensure conformance to specifications and compliance with Good Practice (GxP) procedures
Monitor and report issues with injection molds
Make recommendations for refurbishment based on production factors such as cycles, process capability and tooling history
Qualification
Required
5 years in an injection molding manufacturing environment
Design and implement injection molding processes for new and existing products, including establishing robust and repeatable process parameters
Develop and implement scientific-based processes and generate documentation and controls to ensure efficient and optimal run consistency
Continuously improve manufacturing methods and processes, utilizing techniques like Design of Experiments (DOEs), lean manufacturing principles, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Analyze manufacturing data, monitor cycle times and production efficiency, and identify and resolve production issues and defects using root cause analysis
Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Ensure conformance to specifications and compliance with Good Practice (GxP) procedures, such as those found in the medical devices
Monitor and report issues with injection molds, make recommendations for refurbishment based on production factors such as cycles, process capability and tooling history
Preferred
Experience in processing of thermoplastics, robotics, automation and hot runner systems
Strong and diverse technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing and quality
Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with a high level of self-motivation
