Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure Java-based microservices for the new payments platform
Collaborate closely with the client's product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate product requirements into robust technical solutions
Write clean, testable, and efficient code, and participate in code reviews to maintain a high standard of quality
Ensure all services adhere to the highest security standards and comply with financial regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, AML)
Architect and implement RESTful APIs that will be consumed by web and mobile frontends
Work with a variety of database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL, to manage financial transactions and user data effectively
Participate in the full software development lifecycle within an Agile environment, from initial design to final deployment and support
Drive technical excellence and innovation within the client's engineering team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of professional experience in software development with a deep understanding of Core Java, multithreading, and object-oriented design
Strong, hands-on experience with the Spring ecosystem, particularly Spring Boot, for building enterprise-grade applications
Proven experience in designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs
Proficiency with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra) databases
A strong understanding of secure coding practices, data encryption, and modern authentication and authorization protocols
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a passion for solving complex problems
Preferred
Prior experience in the fintech, banking, or payments industry is a huge plus
Hands-on experience with designing and implementing microservices architectures
Proficiency with a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with payment gateway integration (e.g., Stripe, Plaid) or card processing networks
Experience building low-latency, high-throughput systems capable of handling large transaction volumes
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar
