Responsibilities

The position includes teaching high impact business courses within traditional classroom, hybrid, HyFlex, and online instructional environments — with a focus on a strong pedagogical approach and quality student learning assessments
The position also includes participation in institutional development such as service and leadership on college committees, academic advising, and mentoring adjunct faculty within the discipline
The selected candidate will also participate in scholarly engagement, professional development activities, and community service to both the BRCC campus and the local service region
Leading Full-time Faculty in recruitment/training, textbook selections, syllabi/ instructional support, program scheduling, program objectives design, learning outcomes development, and work environment oversight
Leading Students through both recruitment and retention efforts, Career Services partnerships, graduate placements, collegiate references and job recommendations, academic advising, transfer transcript evaluations, Credit by Exam (CBE) or Credit by Portfolio (CBP) examinations, Student Services placements support, Program Adjustments approval, and resolution of student concerns
Working Alongside Administration by coordinating discussions with the Academic Dean regarding prerequisites/minimum competencies, teaching credentials, curriculum evaluation/proposals, catalog changes, departmental practices, program budgets, VCCS task force initiatives, program adjustment requests, VCCS Peer Group participation, and coordinate internships
Leading Adjunct and Dual Enrollment Instructors through recruiting, interviewing, and reviewing applications; coordinating sessions with the new dual enrollment instructor and critical college departments; provide appropriate orientation; oversee course development, book orders, and class observations
Creating New or Changing Current Programs by developing new curriculum, coordinating Curriculum Advisory Committees, conducting needs assessments, participating in development of articulation agreements
Scheduling and Assessing Programs by developing a set of Program Student Learning Outcomes and maintaining a curriculum map, scheduling classes, staffing courses, evaluating projected enrollment and course section needs, and providing course offerings by appropriate modality
Managing Program Information by reviewing catalog, verifying discipline course lists and descriptions, and updating current curriculum
Additional responsibilities include service to the College (including committee work and participation in shared governance); engagement in community organizations and activities; and participation in scholarly and professional activities

Qualification

Master’s degree in AccountingTeaching experienceProgram management experienceOnline instruction proficiencyCurriculum developmentCreativity in teachingCompassion in instructionTeach diverse population

Required

Master's degree in Accounting OR Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting
Experience using a variety of computer software programs and ability to learn new ones, particularly related to online instruction
Ability to teach students effectively and create lessons plans
Passion for the field of accounting and for teaching
Ability to use creativity, innovation, and compassion to instruct and engage students
Ability to teach a diverse student population

Preferred

Community college or university teaching experience in the classroom, hybrid, HyFlex, as well as synchronous and asynchronous online modalities
Documented track record of innovation in the classroom, teaching, and soft skills
Academic program management experience or program management equivalent
Demonstrated ability to work well with others
