Senior Financial Reporting Specialist

The Senior Financial Reporting Specialist will support financial planning and analysis functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, while collaborating with business leaders to provide actionable insights for strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities
Lead preparation of annual and quarterly budgets, including bottom-up budget development across departments
Partner with business leaders to validate assumptions, identify risks, and ensure budget alignment with strategic priorities
Develop, maintain, and refine financial forecasts to support strategic planning and operational decision-making
Perform detailed variance analysis and deliver clear, actionable explanations of budget-to-actual results
Prepare quarterly and ad hoc financial reports for senior leadership and key stakeholders
Develop narrative summaries that highlight key drivers, trends, and financial risks
Translate complex financial data into concise insights that support decision-making
Collaborate with heads of business units, finance partners, and other internal stakeholders to align financial plans with Agency goals
Serve as a trusted finance partner by responding to inquiries and providing guidance on financial performance
Support leadership discussions by presenting financial findings
Utilize accounting systems and general ledger architecture to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial data
Partner with accounting and finance teams to reconcile data and resolve discrepancies
Support continuous improvement of reporting processes, tools, and controls to enhance data reliability and efficiency
Comply with MassHousing’s Information Security Program and all other Agency information security policies and procedures
Take responsibility for any Agency assets assigned to you
Promptly report any security events, incidents, or weaknesses to MassHousing’s Information Security Team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
5+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, or accounting
Strong knowledge of accounting systems and general ledger architecture
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling, and dashboards
Demonstrated expertise in analyzing financial data and delivering actionable insights within a complex organization
Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from, the United States without sponsorship
Preferred
MBA, CPA, or CFA designation
Knowledge of real estate and government-assisted housing subsidy programs
